El ministro de Aviaci\u00f3n y Transporte de Aruba, Ursell Arends, inform\u00f3 que diez aviones registrados en ese territorio, parte de los Pa\u00edses Bajos, son propiedad de oligarcas rusos ligados a Vladimir Putin, bajo sanci\u00f3n de la Uni\u00f3n Europea por la invasi\u00f3n de Ucrania.<\/p>\n

Arends detall\u00f3 este jueves en conferencia de prensa que entre ellos se incluye al multimillonario Roman Abramovich y a Viktor Vekselberg.<\/p>\n

El ministro record\u00f3 que Abramovich es el propietario principal de la empresa de inversi\u00f3n privada Millhouse Capital y es m\u00e1s conocido por ser el due\u00f1o del Chelsea, un club de f\u00fatbol ingl\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Destac\u00f3 que por su parte Vekselberg es un oligarca ruso propietario y presidente de Renova Group, un conglomerado que es la base de una fortuna que se estima en 9.300 millones de d\u00f3lares.<\/p>\n

El ministro de Aruba, territorio parte de Pa\u00edses Bajos pero con un alto grado de autonom\u00eda, confirm\u00f3 que las aeronaves est\u00e1n en el registro de aviaci\u00f3n de su pa\u00eds, pero matiz\u00f3 que por el momento no se han tomado medidas contra sus propietarios, seg\u00fan EFE.<\/p>\n

Subray\u00f3 que, no obstante, Aruba est\u00e1 en la misma l\u00ednea que los Pa\u00edses Bajos y la Uni\u00f3n Europea en lo que respecta a las sanciones internacionales contra los oligarcas rusos con conexiones con Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan Arends, Aruba tomar\u00e1 medidas contra los propietarios rusos \u201csi es necesario\u201d, sin dar m\u00e1s detalles de lo que significan esas palabras.<\/p>\n

Government of Aruba identifies ten planes belonging to Russian oligarchs that have been registered on the island<\/h3>\n

The Minister of Aviation and Transport of Aruba, Ursell Arends, reported that ten planes registered in that territory, part of the Netherlands, are owned by Russian oligarchs linked to Vladimir Putin, under sanction by the European Union for the invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Arends detailed this Thursday at a press conference that they include billionaire Roman Abramovich and Viktor Vekselberg.<\/p>\n

The minister recalled that Abramovich is the main owner of the private investment company Millhouse Capital and is best known for being the owner of Chelsea, an English soccer club.<\/p>\n

He noted that for his part Vekselberg is a Russian oligarch owner and chairman of the Renova Group, a conglomerate that is the basis of a fortune estimated at $9.3 billion.<\/p>\n

The minister of Aruba, a territory part of the Netherlands but with a high degree of autonomy, confirmed that the aircraft are in the aviation registry of his country, but clarified that at the moment no measures have been taken against their owners, according to EFE.<\/p>\n

He stressed that Aruba is nonetheless on the same page as the Netherlands and the European Union when it comes to international sanctions against Russian oligarchs with connections to Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n

According to Arends, Aruba will take action against Russian owners \u201cif necessary\u201d, without elaborating on what those words mean.<\/p>\n

Aviation registration is a lucrative source of income for Aruba, defined as an autonomous territory of the Netherlands situated in the Caribbean Sea.<\/p>\n

Aruban media reports that Russian billionaires have registered large aircraft in the territory, including a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and a Boeing 767 Extended Range, both owned by Abramovich.<\/p>\n

Vekselberg, for his part, would have an Airbus A319-100 ACJ model.<\/p>\n

The local press indicates that there are talks between the Dutch authorities and their former Caribbean colonies about the sanctions of assets of the Russian oligarchs, although no definitive decisions have yet been taken.<\/p>\n
